A little bit about me

Hello, I’m Margot. I’m a counsellor and therapist trained in Transactional Analysis. I’ve always been interested in how we grow and change through life, and I was drawn to this work because I’ve seen how powerful it can be when someone really listens to us. When you feel truly heard and supported — and that’s something many of us don’t often get.

I sometimes think of therapy a bit like working on a puzzle. Together, we gently look at the pieces, notice how they fit, and sometimes find links that you might not have seen before. Over time, things can feel clearer — not because I’ve got the answers, but because, through trust and conversation, your own answers begin to show up.

I’ve worked with people going through all kinds of loss — the death of someone close, the end of a relationship, changes in health or identity, or even the quieter griefs that life can bring. I also work with people exploring questions around identity, neurodivergence, or simply how they belong in the world.

For me, therapy works best when you feel genuinely accepted. My aim is to create a space where you don’t have to put on a mask or explain yourself — a space where every part of you is welcome, and where we can explore together what healing and growth might look like for you.

And a little bit more…

A little bit more about me…

Outside of the therapy room, animals and the natural world have always been really important in my life. When I was younger, they were my safe place whenever the world felt confusing or overwhelming.

These days, I share my home with hens, cats, a dog, and a few other creatures. And it’s this kind of warm, grounded environment that I’d like to bring into my practice space in East Lothian.

I know it’s not for everyone, and that’s completely fine. But for some people, being around animals or being closer to nature can bring a real sense of calm and connection — and that can sometimes add another layer of ease and support to the therapy work that we can do together.
